PLAXIS is a finite element package specifically intended for the analysis of deformation and stability in geotechnical engineering projects. Geotechnical applications require advanced constitutive models for the simulation of the non-linear and time-dependent behavior of soils. In addition, since soil is multi-phase material, special procedures are required to deal with hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic pore pressures in the soil. Although the modeling of the soil itself is an important issue, many geotechnical engineering projects involve the modeling of structures and the interaction between the structures and the soil. PLAXIS is equipped with special features to deal with the numerous aspects of complex geotechnical structures.
Professional Version
A large range of geotechnical projects may be analyzed using this high capacity Version. It is possible to use finite element meshes consisting of thousands of elements. The Professional Version is supplied as an extended package, including static elasto-plastic deformation, advanced soil models, consolidation, updated mesh and steady state groundwater flow.
Dynamics Module
The PLAXIS Dynamics module is an add-on module to the current PLAXIS Professional Version 7.2 and higher. Soil and structures are subjected not only to static loads as caused by constructions in and on the ground surface but to dynamic loads in the appearance of vibrations as well. If these vibrations are strong they can cause damage. With the PLAXIS Dynamics module you can analyse the effects of vibrations in the soil.
3D Tunnel Version
PLAXIS 3D Tunnel Version is a stand-alone finite element package based on the PLAXIS 2D Version 7 and is specifically intended for the analysis of deformation and stability in Tunnelling projects.
PlaxFlow
PlaxFlow is a finite element package that can be used to analyse two-dimensional unsaturated and time-dependent groundwater flow. It is specially designed for use by geotechnical engineers and offers easy input of parameters, also for anisotropic flow conditions. PlaxFlow can be used as a stand-alone program, or as a fully integrated module in Plaxis v8. This offers the possibility to take into account the influence of flow on soil deformation and stability.

●　自動メッシュ生成機能
地盤解析に必要となる条件を、デフォルト値としておりますので、必要最低限の入力操作を行うことで、 自動的かつ効率的にメッシュ生成が行えます。 また、局所的にメッシュ分割を変更したい場合にでも、容易にメッシュの再生成を行なうことができます。

●　材料モデル
地盤解析の挙動を精度良く表現するためには、どの材料モデルを使用し、 どのような構成則パラメータを与えるかが重要です。 PLAXISでは、地盤分野で経験的に用いられる、材料モデルおよびパラメータを用意しています。

●　浸透流と圧密
複雑な浸透流問題を解析するために、収束性に優れた定常浸透流解析機能が組み込まれています。 そのため、飽和土のモデル化や過剰間隙水圧の消散シミュレーションを容易に行うことが可能です。

●　ユーザー定義材料モデル
ユーザ独自に作成した構成則を組み込むことが可能です。 これにより、研究レベルの解析を行うことが可能となります。

●　構造物と土－構造物の接触面
正確な構造物のモデル化及び地盤との相互作用を表現するために、 梁、ジオグリッド、アンカーやストラットが用意されています。 また、土－構造物の接触面における、滑りや剥離を的確に表現するためのモデル化も 簡単に行うことができます。

●　トンネルデザイナー機能
トンネルをモデル化する場合には、トンネルデザイナー機能が有効です。 様々な形状のトンネルを簡単にモデル化することができます。
